Measuring benches in Örgryte

Who dares to sit down on the BAC-benches? How do people around the benches react? Who cares?

This was a project with the focus to change a public space. My area I worked with was Örgryte in Gothenburg, I chose to work with the Örgryte square. It’s a place where a lot of alcoholics are spending their time, sitting at the benches. Close to the benches there is also a busstop, which means that there are a lot of people passing this place all the time.

I created the measuring benches as an experiment to see if it and how it affects the environment. Who dares to sit on the benches? Will anybody sit on the bench they actually believe has the right number, amount alcohol in blood, as they have for real? Dare a sober man sit there?

It was also away for me to make sober persons around the alcoholic people to look around them and se what happens at this place daily. An attempt to make them feel and care; maybe someone around gets the understanding and compassion; through this also helps someone how got problems.
